Why choose die-casting process

What is die casting

Die casting is a process of metal smelting and processing. It is a casting method in which molten alloy liquid is filled into the cavity of a steel mold at high speed under high pressure, and the alloy liquid solidifies under pressure to form a casting, somewhat similar to “plastic injection molding”. The main characteristic of die casting is high pressure and high speed, which is different from other casting methods.

Aluminum alloy die-casting process knowledge detailed introduction (technical advantages and difficulties)
Two]

Aluminum alloy die-casting products have those characteristics
1, Casting aluminum alloy is divided into different kinds according to the main alloy elements added

Aluminum-Silicon (AL-Si), Aluminum-Cu (Al-Cu), Aluminum-Magnesium (Al-Mg) and Aluminum-Zinc (Al-Zn).

Commonly used grades are ADC12 (A383, AlSi12Cu1), ADC10 (A380, Si9Cu3)

3, Advantages of aluminum alloy die-casting

Good product quality: high dimensional accuracy, good surface finish, high strength and hardness, generally 25~30% higher strength than sand casting, but about 70% lower elongation, stable size, good interchangeability. Can die-cast aluminum thin-walled complex castings, for example: the current zinc alloy die-casting minimum wall thickness up to 0.3mm, aluminum alloy die-casting up to 0.5mm.
High production efficiency: high machine productivity, for example, small horizontal cold air die-casting aluminum machine can die-cast aluminum 600-700 times in eight hours on average, small hot chamber die-casting aluminum machine can die-cast aluminum 3000-7000 times every eight hours on average.
The economic effect is excellent: because the die-casting aluminum size is accurate, the table is clean and so on. Can no longer mechanical processing and direct use, or processing amount is very small, so both improve the metal utilization rate, but also reduce a lot of processing equipment and man-hours, casting price is cheap, can use combination die-casting aluminum to other metal or non-metal materials, both save assembly man-hours and save metal.
4, aluminum alloy die-casting disadvantages

01, die-casting due to liquid metal filling cavity speed is high, the flow state is not stable, so using the general die-casting aluminum method, the casting is easy to produce porosity, can not be heat treatment.
02, to the inner concave complex casting, die-casting molding is more difficult.
03, aluminum alloy die-casting mold type life is low, life about 80,000 touch times.
04, not suitable for small batch production, the main reason is the high manufacturing cost of die-casting aluminum type, small batch production is not economic.
05, aluminum alloy die-casting is not easy to achieve anodic oxidation, because the cost of die-casting aluminum alloy contains more Si, Cu, Fe and other elements, affecting the formation of oxide film. The anodic oxide film may also be dark in color, and it is difficult to get colorless and transparent oxide film. With the increase of silicon content, the color of anodic oxide film is from light gray to dark gray until dark gray.
